Synopsis:
1874 - The Greatest Famine: Bihar 1874, the legend, Vandevi entrusted the king with the task of protecting the forest. She laid down the rule that nobody should ever enter the forest after sunset, and it was the duty of the king and his future generations to preserve this forest. Year 2024... Eight years since his last visit, Nandan Kumar, a rational PWD supervisor from Mumbai, returns to his ancestral village, Bihata, to sell his inherited land. What begins as a transactional trip spirals into a land dispute that angers the local folk deity, `Vandevi`, kicking off an age-old folklore to protect the jungle as the villagers face a dilemma between greed and belief. While the village is unaware, a local revered leader, our prime antagonist Deepak Kumar, has laid this entire plan and gets Nandan to return to the village. Deepak is in talks with the system to kickstart the construction of a road that will lead to the development of the village while simultaneously strengthening his political ambitions. The film sets up a rich folktale of an able king born to protect his people and the land supported by the forest. As the plot unfolds, coincidentally, both Deepak and Nandan are tied to the forest and its folklore, which is revealed prior to the climax. The nexus run by Deepak in the garb of development is derailed, and once his greed is out in the open, he unleashes his fury against Nandan and the villagers, going as far as burning down the sacred forest. It is then that we witness the rise of good over evil, and the ultimate reveal of the jungle unfolds in the climax, linked to the original mythological tale with which the story began. The divine forces end up shaking not only the entire village but also alter Nandan`s faith and belief. The climax opens multiple layers, which also lends to our sequel.
